First-Person Shooter Blacklight: Retribution Is Now Live (April 3, 2012)

Blacklight: Retribution, the sequel to the hit game Blacklight: Tango Down, is a new first-person shooter MMO that uses AAA game technology such as the Unreal Engine 3 and Direct X 11 to deliver cutting-edge 3D graphics. Its open beta testing phase has been successfully completed and it is now live as a free-to-play game.

One of the things that sets Blacklight: Retribution (BLR) apart from other FPS games is that it allows the player an incredible amount of weapon customization. Everything from the barrel to the stock of the player’s weapon can be altered, with each player able to create his own unique style of firearm. In addition, there are specialized heavy weapons, such as rocket launchers, flamethrowers, and even the heavily armored Hardsuit.

These customization options aren’t just for looks. For example, players can equip as much heavy-duty armor as they like on their character so that he can soak up tons of hits but then this will slow him down quite a bit. On the other hand, light armor will make a character very fast but he will not be able to take much damage. Players can choose whichever option suits their playing style best and develop their character for close quarters combat or long-range combat as a sniper.

A unique feature is the Hyper Reality Visor or HRV. This is a core gameplay element that allows players to see through walls and locate enemies. It is only active for a few seconds and has a cooldown timer. While this may seem strange at first, the advantage to the HRV is that everyone has the ability to use it so it tends to keep players at the edge of their sets and very focused on the game
